A few female gardians (herdswomen) manage to integrate into the manades (herds) of Camargue. Generally the daughters of breeders - like Véronique Blanc here - or of gardians and themselves excellent riders, they have been immersed in the Camargue universe since childhood. They have been able to develop strategies to integrate into an essentially male world and succeed like them in transforming their passion into a profession.
