Storage of fodder in the hayloft

Hay must be sheltered within ten days of being pressed to avoid any mold that could occur in the open air in contact with the ground. The haystacks are then stored in a ventilated room, without piling them up, so that the air can circulate. The hayloft, also called hay barn or barge depending on the region, is the building or floor traditionally used to store the hay crop. It often extends above the stables where the stock's litter is installed during the stabling period.
