Stains, indicators of the giraffe’s age
Biologists have discovered that giraffe patches provide informations about each individual age, especially with bulls. At birth, the baby giraffe already has a unique pattern and whose design will not change. However, during its growth, and with the increase in testosterone levels, males patches tend to darken. They continuously darken from males’ puberty, around 7 or 8 years old, to their sexual maturity, two years later.
