Spruces (Picea abies) are large conifers characterized by their reddish trunks and conspicuous hanging cones. Their very tough needles are more difficult to spot from a distance, with their prickly-tips and their uniform colour (no white line) and are arranged all around the twigs. They have three sides that can be felt when rolling them between one’s fingers.
