Speleologists-archaeologists

In 2009, the Tellure mining park in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines created a via ferrata in the underground galleries of its former silver mine. It constitutes one of the only possibilities to practice caving in the Vosges mountains. The exploration routes rely on a system similar to mountaineering to wind inside the caves dug by human hands. Over time, some speleologists have turned into speleologists-archaeologists. Beyond the physical feat, they explore the galleries in search of ancient traces of mining activities.
