Specific breaths

The breath varies according to the whale species according to its size and the structure of its blowhole. The humpback whale has a balloon-shaped breath (almost as wide as high) that can reach 9,84ft (3m). With each breath, it replaces up to 90% of the air contained in its lungs within 1 to 2 seconds. The expelled warm air condenses on contact with the colder outside air and forms a cloud.
