The family groups of Przewalski horses (Equus ferus przewalskii) from the Monts d'Azur reserve live all year round under the guidance of their dominant stallions, unlike other animal groups such as European bisons. The breeding season runs from April to June and requires a lot of energy from the stallions that try to keep the group of females close. The mares give birth eleven months later.
