Cône volcanique du volcan Ijen, Kawah Ijen est un volcan explosif actif dont le cône héberge un lac vert considéré comme le plus acide au monde.
Avant d’être un lieu touristique, le volcan est surtout un lieu d’extraction du soufre. Il est produit par une solfatare (fumerolle) immortalisé par cette photo.
On y voit des porteurs de soufre prêts à prendre leurs chargements.
