Unlike young males, young Przewalski mares are generally not chased away by their parents. However, they may be poorly tolerated by the other mares of the harem during estrus. They can then leave on their own initiative, be chased away under pressure from the other mares, or find a compromise by staying on the outskirts of the harem.
