Very gregarious, walruses tend to live clumped together around dominant males with a random preeminence and rarely remain alone or far from the group. Adepts of life in community and very supportive, they multiply the body contacts and vibrissae touches which allow them to recognize each other and communicate by touch, smell and sound.
