Smoke signals as communication

Standing right at the top of the Carolles cliffs, the small-stone outpost there is part of a larger set of defences designed by Vauban at the end of the 17th century. The location of the Cabane makes sense once one discovers the breath-taking view over the Mont-Saint-Michel bay it offers. At high tide, the coastguards would observe the movements of ships and corresponded by means of optical signals (flags, smoke, or lights) with the posts established at Mont-Saint-Michel and at the Pointe du Roc in Granville. Today, you can enjoy the changing colours of the bay in the company of a calm and cautious donkey. A beautiful way to reach osmosis with Norman nature.
