The Mont-Dore resort extends at 3,444 ft (1,050 m) above sea level on the northern face of Puy de Sancy (6,187 ft / 1,886 m) and Puy Ferrand (6,082 ft / 1,854 m). It is part of the Grand Sancy skiing area and is particularly renowned for ski touring. The summit can be reached by various paths or by a cable car and staircase. From the top, the privileged panorama embraces the Puy de la Perdrix, the Puy de Cacadogne, and the Roc de Cuzeau.
