The Besse-Pertuyzat-Pavin area, in the Sancy massif, is dedicated to cross-country skiing – skating or alternative steps. It offers 85 km of trails between 1,200 and 1,300 metres altitude from the Besse-Pertuyzat cross-country ski chalet. The area is close to the Pavin and Chauvet lakes, the Montchal and Montcineyre puys. It is part of the Sancy Nordic Area, labelled “Nordic France”, a group of 250 km of trails spread over two areas, six communes and eight sectors linked together by connecting itineraries. The trails run through deciduous and coniferous forests, untouched areas and plateaus.
