The Grand Sancy skiing area in the Puy-de-Dôme department connects the two resorts of Mont-Dore, on the northern slope of Puy de Sancy, and Super Besse, on the southern slope. When the weather and snow conditions allow it, the area offers 52 miles (84 km) of marked pistes for alpine skiers of all levels. It also attracts off-piste skiers with its renowned tracks whose slopes can exceed 50°.
