Sketches of colors
Marc Chagall's sketches for stained glass displayed in the Centre Pompidou-Metz highlight his way of seeing his art. He first initiates his work with spots of color that all have a specific meaning. Yellow symbolizes all that is celestial such as angels, birds, spirits, and the power of God. Blue represents the clouds, and green the Creation of the world. Red and orange colors are used to symbolize sins, struggle, and exclusion. Half-naked figures stand in the middle of these allegorical nuances.
