The Louis Vuitton Foundation is a formidable technical achievement born of the meeting between Bernard Arnault and Frank Gehry in 2001. In 2006, the project was launched and the land was leased by the City of Paris for a 55-year period. In 2007, the building permit was obtained and seven months later, the earthworks and moulded walls began. Civil engineering work began in 2009. The structural work was completed in 2011 and the steel structure of the iceberg was installed. 2012 saw the installation of the Ductal panels and the glass roofs. On October 27, 2014, the Louis Vuitton Foundation opened its wings to the public.
