The Common Wireweed, Sida acuta, is a flowering plant species of the Malvaceae family with pantropical distribution. Sometimes considered invasive, it is locally contained by the introduction of beetles as biological control agents. It gives small yellow flowers with 5 petals longer than the staminal column. Each of its fruits (mericarpe) contains a single seed.
