Shepherds for five generations
0
0
Yannick Frain and his son Alexandre represent the fourth and fifth generation of a family of shepherds who raise the famous black-headed sheep in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. Throughout the winter, the flock goes out to the pastures during the day and returns to the sheepfold in the evening. When grass is less nutritious, their nutrition is supplemented with cereals and hay cultivated on the family farm. Lambing season takes place in winter, safely tucked away in the sheepfold. In the summer, the herd is only brought in once every two weeks.
