Shaping the core of the bell
0
0
After determining the type of bell, its note, and approximate weight, the saintier (bell founder) crafts a hollow brick core that sits over a wood fire. An insulating layer separates it from the next part, the false bell. The craftsman shapes the bell directly on this core with a mixture of horse manure, goat hair, and clay called hotpot. The templates allow checking the proportions according to the desired note. They turn on a shaft in order to obtain a perfect thickness.
