In the 1960s, France and Great Britain needed a fighter aircraft that would combine training and ground attack capabilities. A study was launched and Breguet Aviation’s Jaguar was selected. Breguet joined forces with the British Aircraft Corporation to found SEPECAT (Société Européenne de Production de l’avion d’Ecole de Combat et d’Appui Tactique), which was responsible for production. Several versions were designed with different engines for each country. The two-seater Jaguar E3 visible on the tarmac of the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum) at Le Bourget was assigned to CITAC 339 Aquitaine in Luxeuil until 2001.
