Selected and restricted fatty substances

The fatty substances used in the manufacture of Marseille soap by the Fer à Cheval soap factory are limited to four oils of vegetable origin: olive-pomace oil, copra oil extracted from coconut, palm oil extracted from the fruits of oil palm trees from certified plantations, and palm kernel oil extracted from the fruit of the palm kernel. The olive oil resources of Provence have made olive oil and its by-products the essential components of Marseille soap from its origin. The olive-pomace oil used comes from the pulp and pits of olives and follows the first pressures intended for the food industry.
