The territory of the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park includes sixteen species of amphibians. The rich batrachological fauna that inhabits this vast expanse of marshland houses uncommon and determining species such as the Natterjack Toad (Bufo calamita), the Lobed Newt (Triturus vulgaris), and the Great Crested Newt (Triturus cristatus). The marshes are also home to the Midwife Toad (Alytes obstetricans), the green tree frog (Hyla Arborea), and the palmate newt (Lissotriton helveticus).
