Sealskins and spikes

The choice of touring ski equipment is important and must be adapted to the skiers’ technical level. ‘Sealskins’ in mohair – a wool made from the fleece of Angora goats – are ideal for sliding, while those made of synthetic fibres present a better grip. Beginners can opt for mixed mohair / synthetic skins which offer an excellent compromise. On frozen snow or when the slope incline is greater than 30 or 35 degrees, aluminium spikes placed on the ski runner complete the sealskins and provide the skier with additional security.
