On the walls of the Memorial’s two loggias are several maps engraved in stone, enhanced with coloured enamel, made by Ets Maurice Schmit of Paris. In the Northern loggia, the map entitled ‘Military Assaults in Western Europe: 6 June 1944 - 8 May 1945’ describes the Allied movements through Western Europe from D-Day until the German surrender of May 1945. The maps were drawn by Robert Poster of New York, based on material provided by the American Battle Monuments Commission. The ceiling panels in the loggias are made of blue ceramic and were executed by the firm 'Gentil et Bourdet'.
