The traditional Kanak sculpture remains closely linked to the architectural space of the clan's large hut. It appears on the ridge spire, the central post, the tower posts, the lintel and the doorframes. The main iconographic themes are the stylized ancestors, the clans, death and animals, but the symbolism of the sculptures varies according to the regions.
