The landscapes of the Dentelles de Montmirail massif and its foothills are still sculpted today by old terraced cultures which structure the hillsides. Small and narrow, they follow the contour lines and the slopes, testifying both to the ingenuity of the work of the restanqueurs who raised the dry stone walls and the ancestral practices of manual or horse-led work of the land. The cultivation terraces allowed both ridding the soil of the stones and creating strips of arable land by leveling it.
