This bell marked Burdin-Fils aîné fondeur à Lyon bears witness to the work of bell founders in the 19th century. Beyond their metallurgical know-how, the bell founders or master saintiers put their musical skills at the service of the manufacture of the bells insofar as they shaped the bronze according to the expected sounds and harmonics. Located in Lyon, the Burdin foundry was one of the many sedentary foundries of the time, which also had countless itinerant founders.
