Saving the white lion

As the white lion has no status apart, there is no national or international law to protect it in the wild. In 2002, a south african scientist, Linda Tucker, founded the Global White Lion Protection Trust, a non-profit NGO based in the Timbavati region to protect the white lion and promote the associated cultural values that consider it sacred. The main goal of this foundation is to reintroduce white lions into their natural range. In collaboration with Jason Turner, a researcher at the University of Pretoria, she implemented a program for white lions born in zoos.
