The uninhabited islets off the coast of Grande-Terre in New Caledonia are real sanctuaries of the marine avifauna. This is the case of the Amédée islet which - in addition to the Fairy Tern - is home to many other species such as the Black Noddi, the Osprey, the Dwarf Tern, the Crested Tern, the Roseate Tern, the Silver Gull, the Buff-banded Rail, the Turnstone, the Plover or the Wandering Tattler.
