Oriental art in the Art Nouveau living room
0
0
The fireplace of Villa Majorelle's living room stands out from the general Art Nouveau decor of the house. Its foyer, surrounded by green ceramic tiles, is relatively small compared to the imposing piece of furniture sheltering it. The precious red-colored wood bends as it passes the two mirrors overhanging it. The original stained-glass windows, designed by glassmaker Jacques Graber, depicted pine cones, symbols of wealth, and flying owls. Destroyed during a bombardment in 1916, they were replaced with new windows with oriental motifs ordered by Louis Majorelle's son.
