Saint-Vincent Cathedral in Saint-Malo is dedicated to Saint Vincent of Zaragoza. It was built in the 12th century by Jean de Châtillon (1098-1163), bishop of Aleth, the ancient city whose site is currently integrated into the territory of the Malouine commune. The square on which it stands today has been named after its founder who is buried in the cathedral. The cathedral was built with its city, its convents, its stalls and its markets in replacement of the ancient Saint-Pierre cathedral on the rock of Saint-Malo, which was easier to defend than the City of Aleth.
