The gothic Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul-et-Saint-André cathedral in Saint-Claude, in the Jura department, is the architectural jewel of the city. Founded as Saint-Oyend Abbey in the 14th century, it was elevated to the rank of cathedral in 1742 and basilica in 1952 by Pope Pius XII. Its facade was completed in the 18th century. Located in the heart of the town of Saint-Claude, Place de l'Abbaye, it has been listed as a historical monument since October 30, 1906.
