In the Show circuit of the Cité du Train-Patrimoine SNCF, the rolling stock on display (wagons and locomotives) is “inhabited” by life-size rag dolls dressed in period clothing. Throughout the circuit, videos illustrate the development of the French railways in chronological order. The wartime section shows a steam locomotive that was hit by a track explosion during the Second World War. The Consolidation 149A 259 lying on its side bears witness to the active participation of SNCF railwaymen in the Resistance and in sabotage of railways.
