The peaceful Rurutu comes alive during the traditional festivals which are especially important for the island's inhabitants. The Tere, in January, allows a tour of the island which resurrects ancestral sites and legends ; the Me, in May, revives the Protestant religious faith and the Heiva, in July, celebrates the traditional Polynesian culture through crafts, dance, music and sports.
