The Explorers
Rurutu is a very green Archipelago Austral island of modest relief covered with a dense vegetation composed of coffee, lemon, mandarin, banana, guava, mape (chestnut) trees but also ferns, pines and moorland. It is surrounded by a fringing reef hence the absence of lagoon. Its 2400 inhabitants are divided into three main villages : Moerai, Hauti and Avera.
