Rural housing

Inspired by the traditional Kanak hut, an endogenous architectural element of New Caledonia, this rural dwelling continues to use plant materials for its walls (straw, coconut palm or pandanus leaves, niaouli skins) recovered from the surrounding forest reserve. In addition to their flexibility, these vegetal walls maintain an almost constant temperature all year round. On the other hand, corrugated iron has replaced the green roof of the traditional huts.
