The church of Notre-Dame rises 83 metres above the town of Epernay. It was built between 1898 and 1915 on the site of a former Ursuline convent that had been converted into a hospice. It was bombed several times during the World War I, and its restoration was completed in 1924. The church is notable for its medieval transitional style: the exterior is Romanesque and the interior is early Gothic. The restored renaissance stained-glass windows depict liturgical scenes as well as harvest scenes, proof that the wines of Champagne have always been renowned.
