In 1985, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti converted to organic viticulture and, since 2007, biodynamic viticulture is applied in all the vineyards. Biodynamic agriculture (or biodynamics) is a method of farming that respects the vines and the soil, rejecting the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides and favouring natural products. For example, at Romanée-Conti, horses have been reintroduced to work in the vineyards to avoid the soil compaction caused by tractors.
