Rocks, legends, and moss

The rocks scattered in the forest that extends at the foot of Riquewihr sometimes seem shaped like animals. Others are surprisingly large. Traces of an ancient Celtic presence add to the atmosphere of these woods. According to some legends, giants, gnomes, and singing fairies frequently dwell there. Numerous rocks of all sizes cover themselves with a carpet of moss. Ribeauvillé's forest is home to 200 varieties of these woodlands plants.
