Honduras is abundantly irrigated, especially on its coastal plains bordering the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean into which its rivers flow. No less than thirteen rivers from 15.5 to 341mi (25 to 550km) long irrigate the northern plain of the country and lead to the Caribbean coast while, on the other side of the isthmus, six rivers join the Gulf of Fonseca in the Pacific Ocean.
