Ouaïème river and Mont Panié massif

The Ouaïème ferry is the only way to cross the Ouaïème river which flows for 21mi (34km) through the Mont Panié massif, the highest point of Grande-Terre. To reach Hienghène, you have to use this floating and motorized steel bridge which was built in 2010 and allows the boarding of cars and coaches. The crossing lasts only five minutes but offers a beautiful panorama of the mountains bordering the river.
