Arctic haze often appears in the form of distinct bands or layers. These bands of Arctic haze can be tens of meters thick to a kilometer thick and they can extend from 13 miles to 124 miles (20km to 200km) in distance. Because of the way light particles are scattered and absorbed by Arctic haze, visibility is very reduced.
