1
0
Rio Patuca has its source in the highlands of northeastern Honduras and flows for approximately 198mi (320km) through the Mosquitia before emptying into the Caribbean Sea at Patuca Point. Its course is interrupted by several rapids including the Portal del Infierno (door of hell). Its lower navigable part is used as a main means of transport and communication notably to float the logs cut in the tropical rain forests it crosses.
