The Don du Vent is a 98 ft (30 m) long auric ketch whose standing rigging includes, in addition to its masts and booms, a whole series of cables visible in this photo. They are used to hold the masts forward, backward, or sideways, but also to stiffen them thanks to subtle adjustments. The cables can also be more or less stretched in order to bend the masts.
