Restructuration of the pearl sector
0
0
A traditional supplier of labor in the most remote islands and atolls, the Polynesian pearl farming sector is undergoing a major restructuring. It must indeed reorganize and regulate itself to survive the collapse of the price of the raw pearl - 500CFP per pearl i.e 4.18 euros - and the decline in the production quality. The adoption of a pearl law in 2017 and the establishment of a pearl farming council should both regulate the production and protect the environment.
