Known as Christian Dior's childhood home, the Les Rhumbs villa was bought by his family in 1906. In 1930, the town of Granville became its owner, transforming it into a public garden eight years later, after the landscape architect Guillaume Pellerin restored it. The 2.5-acre (1 ha) garden consists of several atmospheres, including a fragrant rose garden planted by Madeleine Dior, the couturier's mother. It runs along the Sentier des Douaniers that winds its way on the cliff.
