The whale shark often swims alone in the deep waters of the tropical belt. This great migratory fish travels thousands of kilometers for reasons that are still unknown. It returns each year to the same places. It sometimes moves closer to the coast, swimming slowly in lagoons, coral atolls or estuaries, especially during the breeding season.
