The very first French seaside resort established in 1824, Dieppe attracted the French and English intelligentsias. From the Duchess of Berry to Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie who remodeled it, the city never stopped reinventing itself. Nearly 3,000 English people lived there in 1860, and Winston Churchill later met his wife in Dieppe. A port was dedicated exclusively to boaters in 1994, and a complex for aquatic activities was created in 2007.
