There is no particular season for breeding. The female chacma baboon is able to procreate from 3.5 years old ; the male, between 4 and 6 years old. Usually, males only mate with females with a pink bulge of the hindquarters, meaning they are in heat. The female mates with several males. But when she reaches the peak of her oestrus, she prefers to mate with a dominant male. After a six months gestation, the female gives birth to a single baby.
