Reproduction and climatic variations
0
0
The reproduction of African elephants depends on food resources. Usually, a female can give birth to a cub every 4 to 5 years. In times of drought, perinatal mortality may reach 100%. Significant variations in population are therefore linked to climatic hazards. Protected, elephants can regain significant numbers.
